MAT 769 - Compact SBC with 386SX Ideal for Portable and Harsh Environment Applications
![]() |

Designed as a cost effective
solution for embedded PC systems requiring processing power of no more than
386SX, the MAT 769 is ideal for harsh environments and portable systems, offering
the following features and options:
· A single board computer with a 386SX processor and up to 16MB of memory
in one sloping SIMM socket
· PCMCIA and PCMount providing connection to two off-board PC sockets
for use with a variety of I/O and memory devices (Types I, II and III).
· Ethernet options - NE2000+ available with either a 10Base-2 (thin co-axial)
or a 10Base-T (twisted pair) media interface.
· Flat panel controller options configured for most panels.
· Optional 8MB read/write Flash disk for environments unsuitable for
rotating magnetic media.
· Soldered RAM option of 1 or 2 MB recommended for harsh environments.
The processor card, designed for embedded PC systems, is 220mm long and needs
only a +5volt supply. It can be powered from either an ISA passive backplane,
or its on-board header. Backplanes are available with the card, providing from
2-20 slots.
The custom BIOS means the card can boot without keyboard or video. The BIOS
can read settings from the non-volatile EEPROM should the Setup information
in CMOS be corrupt.
You can select different system configurations to suit your requirements using
optional plug-in daughter cards. You can choose a flat panel controller with
256KB or 512KB of video memory, SVGA controller with up to 1MB of video memory,
an Adaptec SCSI-2 controller, NE2000 and Ethernet, and a Mem-disk option which
allows you to add up to 8MB read/write flash memory.
The PCMCIA option allows you to add external flash memory, SRAM, hard disks,
network cards and other devices to your system. For example, you can connect
to phone lines with a fax/Modem card or connect to a local area network using
a PCMCIA adapter for Ethernet networks.
Microbus provides off-the-shelf support for most popular flat panels. The flat
panel controller has already been configured for EL, plasma, TFT, STN and other
LCD colour and mono panels from most manufacturers. Connection to the flat panel
is very straightforward and along with PCMCIA can provide the basis of a portable
system.
Standard functions include an IDE hard disk controller, floppy controller, two
serial ports, one parallel port, ports for a keyboard and PS/2 mouse.
The MAT 769 card is CE marked, having met electromagnetic compatibility requirements
when tested in a typical system.
OEM features of Microbus SBCs include software readable serial numbers, BIOS
customization, non-volatile back-up of the CMOS setup information, fused power
outputs, on-board headers and true OEM technical support. Microbus is BS EN
ISO 9001 registered for design and manufacture.
