MAT 900 - Dual/Single Pentium® II processors (up to 450MHz) with AGP video Ultra Wide SCSI and 10/100Mbit Ethernet

The MAT 900 offers the highest performance and integration available in twin Pentium II processor single board solutions. This is achieved by combining up to two 450MHz Intel Pentium II processors, high performance SCSI, Ethernet and AGP video on one board, which fits into a single slot in a PICMG backplane.

By overcoming some inherent limitations in the mechanics of Pentium II packaging, Microbus enables OEMs to build very high performance systems using the familiar PICMG™ passive backplane.

The unique arrangement of Pentium II processors sharing a common sink-tunnel creates a rigid box structure for secure retention of the processor assembly. This design also allows fitting of the DIMM memories above the processors, so OEMs can fit half-length cards in the slot next to the processor card in the PICMG backplane.

The AGP video is based on the 3Dlabs® Permedia® 2 chipset and supports 4 or 8 megabytes of high performance SGRAM video memory. The PCI Ultra Wide SCSI-3, another built-in option, supports transfers at up to 40Mbytes per second, particularly useful in heavily loaded systems or applications like image processing. The 10/100Mbit Ethernet is autoswitching, allowing access to latest high performance networks.

Support of the Slot 1 thermal management options in the Pentium II processor allows OEM control of over-temperature situations. This is done by throttling the processor speed, thus reducing power consumption and heat emitted.

The standard interfaces, such as two USB ports, IrDA, 2 serial (RS232 or RS485), 1 parallel, floppy, Ultra33 DMA IDE, keyboard and mouse, are also included.

Based on the Intel BX AGPset, the card supports the 100MHz FSB (front side bus) and high performance PC100 SDRAM. It overcomes power supply limitations by making full use of 5V and 3.3V connections from the backplane.

For designers of robust systems, the board supports voltage and software watchdogs, and built-in processor thermometer, and a fan speed monitor. The MAT 900 card is CE marked: in a typical system its EMC emissions were within Class B limits.

OEM features of Microbus SBCs include software-readable serial numbers, BIOS customization, non-volatile back-up of the CMOS setup information, fused power outputs, on-board headers and true OEM technical support.
